International Powder Metallurgy Conference Launched as a Hybrid Event

The 2021 North American conference on powder metallurgy (PM) and particulate materials, will be offered in a hybrid format, with delegates electing to be in-person or presenting or attending virtually.  PowderMet2021 will feature over 200 technical presentations from worldwide industry experts presenting on PM, particulate materials, metal additive manufacturing (AM), and tungsten at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida, June 20–23, 2021. Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Awards Announced

The Metal Powder Industries Federation's (MPIF) Awards Committee has announced the recipients of the 2021 MPIF Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy (PM) Award that recognizes individuals who have actively served the North American PM industry for at least 25 years and, in the minds of their peers, deserve special recognition.

Semiconductor Shortage Threatens Global Automotive Production

A global semiconductor shortage is reported to be causing a number of automotive manufacturers to cut back on vehicle production, despite growing demand following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As reported in Nikkei Asia, the lack of supply has forced Germany’s Volkswagen Group, as well as Japanese automakers Toyota, Honda and Nissan, to reduce production of certain models.

Sandvik Completes Acquisition of Miranda Tools

Sweden’s Sandvik AB has completed the previously announced acquisition of the entire business of India-based Miranda Tools, a manufacturer of High-Speed Steel and solid carbide round tools.
