Metal AM GPS Antenna a Pathfinder for Future Satellites

Lockheed Martin has qualified its first complex metal additive manufactured (AM) piece of hardware for spaceflight. The hardware, an omnidirectional antenna for communication relay, has been integrated onto a GPS III satellite.

Scientists use Neutrons to Discover Strengthening Behavior in Alloys

Researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Oak Ridge, Tennessee, have identified “load shuffling,” a mechanism in a 3D-printed alloy, that could enable the design of enhanced performance lightweight materials for vehicles.
